SC Aviation to Embark on $22.5 Million Expansion
SC Aviation will soon break ground on a $22.5 million expansion to its Janesville hangar facility, with the help of $500,000 in performance-based tax credits from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
The company, which provides corporate charter and aircraft management services, will use the capital to invest in adding 36,000 square feet to its existing 12,000-square foot facility. Given the highly competitive environment in which SC Aviation operates and the high costs associated with aviation equipment, the company considered expansion opportunities outside of Wisconsin, including sites at airports that actively courted the company as a prospective tenant.
WEDC’s tax credits are contingent upon the retention of SC Aviation’s existing staff of 46, as well as hiring 31 new full-time employees. The expansion project also received $100,000 in tax incremental financing (TIF) from the City of Janesville. The TIF funding and tax credits aided the company’s decision to expand in Janesville.
“By expanding its facilities and adding to its workforce in Janesville, SC Aviation is building on Wisconsin’s historic and growing strength in aerospace and aviation,” said Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, who chairs the Manufacturing Committee for the Aerospace States Association. “We’re proud that SC Aviation is one of about 200 companies in our state leading the way in precision manufacturing, engineering and innovation for the avionics industry.”
