|United National Foods Inc. (UNFI) is building a 300,000-square-foot, $37.8 million distribution center in Prescott, Wis. on one of WEDC’s certified sites. The project is expected to create up to 314 new jobs over three years. UNFI is the leading North American distributor of natural, organic and specialty food brands, including Amy’s, Cliff Bar, and Earth’s Best Organic. Official certification of the project site as development-ready was one of the key factors that influenced UNFI’s decision to locate in Prescott, company and state officials said.
“The state’s overall business-friendly environment and the ability of the state and city to respond quickly to the company’s needs also contributed to UNFI’s selection,” said J. Michael Mullis, the Tennessee-based project location specialist who worked with UNFI throughout the selection process.
The distribution center will be built in the Eagle Ridge Business Park, which is one of 13 ‘Certified In Wisconsin’ development-ready sites. This will be UNFI’s second distribution center in Wisconsin. Construction is currently underway on a 425,000-square-foot distribution center and warehouse in Racine County, slated to open in spring 2014.
