Oak Creek's Delphi redevelopment project
Oak Creek used the Drexel Interchange groundbreaking Friday, May 4, to show off refined plans for the Delphi redevelopment project and announce a major grant to pay for concrete removal at the site. This includes $1.15 million Brownfield grant from Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to reimburse the city for environmental remediation and site clearance expenditures that will be incurred to prepare the site for redevelopment. Officials said it will greatly reduce clean-up costs and aid in redevelopment.
The Blight Elimination and Brownfield Redevelopment Program (BEBR) provides funding to assist local governments, businesses and individuals with assessing and remediating the environmental contamination of an abandoned, idle or underused industrial or commercial facility or site.
