Growing to Compete Globally
From humble beginnings as a small plastics company in Phillips, Wisconsin in 1964, Phillips-Medisize has grown to be a worldwide leader in designing products and manufacturing processes for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Today, the company employs nearly 1,400 people in 12 locations statewide. With an unwavering dedication to quality, Phillips-Medisize strives to find the perfect locations and people to help their innovative products reach their target customers and markets.
Leveraging Wisconsin’s Talent and Business Climate
Due to the state’s positive business climate and investment initiatives, Phillips-Medisize embarked on a $30 million expansion at six different locations throughout Wisconsin in 2015. The facility expansions, located in New Richmond, Menomonie, Hudson, Phillips, Medford and Eau Claire, are expected to create more than 480 new jobs in four different counties. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation provided the company with up to $5 million in performance-based tax credits to make the expansion and new hires possible, and to reward the company for their commitment to Wisconsin. Phillips-Medisize CEO Matt Jennings also said the state’s dedicated and talented workforce prompted the company to continue expanding here. Each year, Jennings hires 10-20 recent graduates from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, since they have knowledge and familiarity with the products that Phillips-Medisize searches for in employees. A skilled workforce coupled with the state’s business climate have helped Phillips-Medisize succeed on a global scale.
