Northwest Wisconsin

Love a small-town feel but still want big-town amenities? What about nature? You’ll get all that out here. In Northwest Wisconsin, you can be as connected or as disconnected as you want to be.

Welcome to Northwest Wisconsin

Towns here feel small (in a good way), but that doesn’t mean you’ll be short on amenities. The school systems are great. There’s less traffic and congestion. And you won’t believe the nature out here. If you like outdoor recreation, you’re in the right place.

Largest Northwest Wisconsin Employers

Bring your passions and talents to a new opportunity. You’ll find manufacturing jobs, medical careers, government roles, and more. These companies are the largest employers in the region.

“I grew up in northern Wisconsin. After spending almost a decade away from the area, with a new appreciation, I chose to move back to Rusk County. Today we have a flourishing business, only because of the selflessness of the culture and the desire to see others succeed. That, in conjunction with affordable infrastructure, makes it the perfect place for our businesses to call home.”

Kyle Czekalski, Centerline Architectural Supply, Weyerhaeuser

Pick an Education Path

Got kids? You’ll find great school systems here when it’s time for college—for them or for you! We’ve got technical, tribal, and private options—plus, campuses of the Universities of Wisconsin.

Your Weekend Plans

First question: Inside or outside? You’ll find both kinds of activities up here, year-round. Hiking, biking, fishing, and hunting. Museums, breweries, art shops, and food trucks. You won’t be bored. Come join us!

  • Explore the Birkebeiner Trail. (We call it the Birkie.) There’s a pretty famous ski race here.
  • Visit the Apostle Islands Sea Caves. You’ll be impressed with Lake Superior’s shore.
  • Get festin’. Cranberry Fest in Stone Lake, Applefest in Bayfield, and Booster Days in Weyerhaeuser are just a few celebrations that happen here.
  • Grab a selfie with a five-story musky at the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum.

"Wisconsin has an amazing geography for these outdoor timber sports. Whether it’s our waterways or our beautiful forests, it enables us to live this outdoor, active lifestyle."

Ben Popp, American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation, Hayward
