Understanding Constituents' Attitudes through Data
Madison-based Polco has created an interactive, online platform for government officials to solicit input and gauge sentiment about public policy from constituents in their area. The company’s goals are to get constituents to take a more active role in public policy, and to help elected officials understand the needs and desires of their constituents. Polco requires users to be verified against a voter registration file, helping government officials ensure that people are voting on policies only once and are actually members of the constituency in question.
Recognition Boosts Young Company's Connections
To develop the groundbreaking platform, Polco’s team members bring experience from previous positions with industry giants like Google and Amazon. The young company is already being recognized for its technology’s promise: Polco won the “People’s Choice” grand prize at the Pressure Chamber event, part of Madison’s Forward Festival, and received an expense-paid trip to pitch its concept to Silicon Valley investors. The company also took first place in its category at the 2016 Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest.
