American Packaging Corp. Selects DeForest Certified Site for New Facility
American Packaging Corporation (APC), a leader in the flexible packaging industry, is investing $50 million into the first phase of a new satellite facility in DeForest, which includes construction of a 170,000-square-foot building. The project is expected to create more than 60 new jobs.
Headquartered in Columbus, Wisconsin, APC specializes in various flexible packaging techniques that support food and beverage industry uses, as well as medical and other specialty item applications. Before selecting DeForest, the company considered locations outside of Wisconsin, but officials decided to expand in the state due to its strong business climate and growing skilled workforce. To further facilitate the project, WEDC offered APC up to $750,000 in state tax credits over a five-year period, contingent upon the company meeting specific job creation and wage level requirements.
Additionally, the site APC selected for its new facility is pre-certified as shovel-ready through WEDC’s Certified in Wisconsin® Program. To date, 16 projects have occurred on 15 Certified Sites around the state, with a total of $310 million in investment and more than 1,600 new jobs. This is the second project on the DeForest site; together, the two projects are expected to contribute $70 million in investment and more than 400 new jobs.
