Milwaukee Tool to Expand Brookfield Headquarters, Add Nearly 600 Jobs

Iconic Wisconsin company Milwaukee Tool recently announced plans to embark on a 200,000-square-foot expansion of its headquarters in Brookfield, a project that is expected to create nearly 600 jobs in the next five years.

The expansion will include a new four-story office building connected to the current facility, as well as the hiring of hundreds of new employees in the next five years, making Milwaukee Tool the largest employer in Brookfield. Most of the new positions will focus on research and development within the company’s engineering and marketing departments.

Milwaukee Tool was certified under the WEDC Enterprise Zone Tax Credit Program and will earn up to $18 million in performance-based state income tax credits over the next six years. The economic development effort was a collaboration between WEDC, the City of Brookfield and Milwaukee 7.

“There is intense competition from across the country when these opportunities arise,” said Gale Klappa, co-chair of Milwaukee 7. “Milwaukee Tool’s decision to expand here underscores the strength of our regional assets that make Milwaukee a premiere destination for manufacturing investment.”
