A New Way to Screen for Cancer

Madison-based Exact Sciences is revolutionizing the testing process for colon cancer, one of the most preventable, yet least detected cancers. Exact Sciences CEO Kevin Conroy explains how the company made the move to Wisconsin to take advantage of the state’s “culture of innovation” and gain access to top biochemistry talent from the University of Wisconsin-Madison for its FDA-approved, non-invasive test called Cologuard.

Finding a Home in Wisconsin

Initially founded in Boston, Exact Sciences moved to Wisconsin in 2009 to take part in the state’s top tier bioscience ecosystem, one that provides them necessary talent and resources they cannot find elsewhere. The company has grown significantly—from just three employees to over 500—since relocating to the state, and recently announced plans to construct a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in University Research Park in Madison.
