The recently released 2015 Wisconsin Bioscience Economic Development Report confirmed the state’s status as a powerhouse in the bioscience industry, reporting $27 billion in total economic output and nearly 36,000 people employed across the state.
The findings of the report, created by BioForward, were debuted at the 2015 Wisconsin Bioscience Summit in Madison on Sept. 16. The industry’s best and brightest attended to hear from top experts including Kevin Conroy, CEO of Exact Sciences, Matt Jennings, CEO and president of Phillips-Medisize, and more. Many of these bioscience experts can also be found in the new Bioscience In Wisconsin video, discussing why Wisconsin is a hotbed of research and innovation.
The report also highlights that more than 1,600 bioscience businesses contribute to the $6.5 billion industry throughout the state. Additionally, the average salary for bioscience positions is $73,241, exceeding the private sector average wage in Wisconsin by more than $30,000.
