Wisconsin’s already vibrant accelerator landscape is growing thanks to a new partnership between American Family Insurance and gener8tor. They are launching gBETA Social Impact to provide a platform for emerging nonprofits and for-profit companies with a social impact focus.

gBETA Social Impact is made possible by a new initiative focused on corporate and social impact by American Family Insurance, the nation’s 13th-largest property/casualty insurance group. Its partner, gener8tor, is a nationally ranked accelerator investing in high-growth startups and supporting them through a network of experienced mentors, technologists, corporate partners, angel investors and venture capitalists.

A free, seven-week accelerator with no fees or equity required, the inaugural gBETA Social Impact cohort will consist of five organizations focused on making a positive impact on K-12 education. Each will receive intensive, individualized coaching and access to gener8tor’s national network of mentors, customers, corporate partners and investors.

The program curriculum is designed to help startups gain early customer traction on their products and ideas. They can subsequently become competitive applicants for full-time, equity-based accelerators or seed investment.

The accelerator will be based out of Spark, Madison’s new entrepreneurial hub dedicated to innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship. That central location will create the environment for participants to engage with the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem, providing them opportunities for additional collaboration.
