The application deadline for gener8tor’s fall round in Milwaukee is approaching, with all necessary forms required to be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on July 15.
gener8tor is a nationally ranked accelerator that invests in high-growth startups. Three times a year, it invests $90,000 each in five startups selected to go through its 12-week program.
The Milwaukee installment, held in Suite 211 at 313 N. Plankinton Ave., will run Aug. 30 through Nov. 14. Each session is about three months long and is held in a different city, with a Madison round coming in the spring.
“We hope that gener8tor provides substantial value to every company that goes through the program. Each company will meet over 100 mentors, pitch to over 70 investors, and become part of a community of support and accountability,” said Louis Condon, managing director of gener8tor’s Wisconsin programs. “We work closely with every founder so that they can quickly overcome any obstacles while building a strong business foundation.”
Although anyone can apply, the companies that are selected are required to be in residence at gener8tor full-time for the duration of the program. gener8tor invests in companies at a variety of stages, from concept to post-revenue to profitable, and in a variety of high-growth businesses, including software, IT, web, SaaS, life sciences, medical technology, e-commerce and hardware. gener8tor also invests in at least one pre-revenue company per program that it views as having big market potential.
Terms and perks of participation include a $20,000 cash investment in exchange for 6 to 7 percent common stock equity; $70,000 of guaranteed follow-on capital from gener8tor in the form of an uncapped convertible note; access to staff interns; more than $1 million in potential discounts and perks from vendors like SoftLayer, Rackspace, Amazon, PayPal, Zendesk and Microsoft; and support from the gener8tor team and a network of alumni and mentors.
“gener8tor received almost 900 applications in our last program, and we believe every company going through is primed for rapid growth and success,” Condon said.
gener8tor supports the growth of selected startups through its network of experienced technologists, corporate partners, angel investors and venture capitalists. The 71 gener8tor alumni have cumulatively raised more than $150 million in follow-on financing. Of these 71 companies, 58 percent have raised more than $1 million in follow-on financing or have been acquired.
