Missy Hughes, director of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., said the tower is important to the city not just because it will attract visitors — a vital part of Door County’s economy — but also because that will help other local industries like hospitality and restaurants, along with the construction jobs that the project required. The WEDC awarded a $250,000 Community Development Grant to the city in 2019 earmarked for the tower.

“What’s really struck me about this project is that it brings together so many different facets of our economy in Wisconsin,” Hughes said.
