Two initiatives in Fond du Lac County are receiving a $50,000 grant to help support entrepreneurship efforts in the area. WEDC awarded the grant to the Center for Enterprise Development for two entrepreneurial initiatives: The IGNITE! Business Success program and the Community Creative Space at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

The IGNITE! Business Success program is a new partnership of 15 economic development and business organizations and area colleges and universities. The program is developing a systematic approach to supporting entrepreneurship in the county. IGNITE! Business Success will use the grant to create an interactive website that will provide demographic data, market information and other resources to the county’s entrepreneurial community.

The Fond du Lac Public Library will use the grant toward the development of a makerspace in 2015, which will enable community members to collaborate on ideas, develop innovative solutions to everyday problems, and learn from one another. The grant will also support development of an implementation guide for communities to follow for their own makerspace.

“We are excited about this award and what it means to Fond du Lac County entrepreneurs,” said Steve Jenkins, executive director of the Center for Enterprise Development. “Both IGNITE! Business Success and the Community Creative Space have been collaborative efforts that will create significant benefits for our community.”
