Did you know that veterans can use the Federal GI Bill® to get paid while learning a trade? There’s no shortage of opportunities available in Wisconsin for you to be educated on the trade that you’ve always wanted to learn.

Through apprenticeships and on-the-job training at hundreds of facilities in the state, you can utilize your GI Bill benefits and start on the right track toward a flourishing career. New and exciting changes in the apprenticeship program make it easier than ever to access various resources related to finding the right career—and to get paid while doing it.

Now, eligible veterans residing in Wisconsin can use their Federal GI Bill benefits to get paid a monthly housing benefit in addition to using the Wisconsin GI Bill to pay for related training at one of the 16 technical colleges around the state. There are nearly 50 Wisconsin campuses that can make access to higher education simple for you, no matter which part of the state you live in. Previously, eligible veterans could only use one benefit prior to using the next, but recent changes allow eligible apprenticeship users to use both programs at the same time.

That means transitioning veterans who take up residence in Wisconsin can use GI Bill benefits for education at vocational schools, business schools, high schools and on-the-job training programs to obtain licenses, certifications and more. There are more than 200 institutions and 350 on-the-job training and apprenticeships that have been approved for GI Bill benefits by Wisconsin’s State Approving Agency.
