WEDC’s Mary Gage takes leadership role in regional organization
MADISON, WI. Feb. 13, 2018 – The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) today announced that Mary Gage, senior director of economic development, has been named to the board of the Mid-America Economic Development Council (Mid-America EDC).
The council is a multi-state association that serves as a key resource for education, networking, and information sharing for economic development professionals and organizations in 12 states. The group’s focus is to provide its members states with the connections and resources needed to compete for national and international economic development projects.
Gage has been with WEDC since the organization was created in July 2011 and previously served as director of the Bureau of Business Finance and Compliance and as a senior underwriter for the former Wisconsin Department of Commerce. She worked as a regional economic development director for WEDC before being named to her current role in October 2016. As senior economic development director, Gage oversees a team of regional economic development directors in 50 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties. The team provides resources and support to help communities and businesses maximize economic success.
Gage is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and DePaul University in Chicago. She has earned the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification from the International Economic Development Council and has been certified as an Economic Development Financial Professional by the National Development Council.
“The Mid-America EDC provides economic development officials throughout the Midwest with a great platform to share ideas and resources to help grow the economy throughout the region,” Gage said. “I look forward to playing a leadership role in the organization.”
Twice a year, the Mid-America EDC holds conferences open to those inside and outside the Mid-America region, which encompasses Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The group’s Best Practices Conference will be held in May in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Competitiveness Conference and Site Selector Forum is scheduled for December in Chicago.
