Six companies will get the chance to hone their business ideas and network with fellow entrepreneurs and water technology companies as part of the third class of Business. Research. Entrepreneurship. In Wisconsin. (The BREW), The Water Council’s business accelerator for water-related technologies.

The program aims to support unique water technology startups, expand Milwaukee’s Global Water Hub and inspire action to create further opportunities in the water industry.

Each company selected will receive up to $50,000 in grants, discounted rent for a year at the Global Water Center in Milwaukee, training through the Institute for Water Business at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and access to numerous mentors.

The following six companies were selected for The BREW’s third class:

  • Iconac Inc. (Toronto) created a technology to safely pinpoint, predict and prevent leaks in pipes.
  • IX Power Clean Water Inc. (Denver) developed a way to clean water used in the oil and gas, mining, manufacturing and construction industries.
  • Optiktechnik (Milwaukee) has a patent-pending laser scanning and image analysis technology for monitoring and control of particle processes in water and wastewater treatment.
  • OxyMem (Ireland) designed a system for solving wastewater treatment problems.
  • Radom Corp. (West Allis) created a new technology for measuring toxic trace minerals in water, wastewater, industrial processes, food and drugs.
  • Solar Water Works (Madison) designed solar water treatment systems using a photo catalyst to accelerate purification.
